Super Mario Organic Model

Organic modelling

My plan is to create a detailed model of the game character Super Mario! The challenge here is to create the different forms and get a smooth 3D model of the character. Already early in the process the way to modelling were considered. the different objects to model and avoiding to model something that will be covered by another object in order to save time.
The figure was found from different two angles which made it possible to model base off. This also gives an idea of the colours when texturing later on. THe shadows will be considered later on aswell in order to make it more realistic.

By putting in the images it is possible to model based off of them. however the polygon needs to be prepared with lines etc. in order to create the different forms of the character.
Starting with the body I used the Edge loop tool to create more lines on the polygon in order to shape it based on the images of the character
I then switched perspective so that I could shape the different sides.
I often smoothened the object by pressing "3" in order to see if I am going the right way with the shapes.
When the body was done I started making the legs. This was done by selecting the face of where i wanted the feet. THis was done by extruding egde tool and moving the legs out of the body and adjusting them.
I realised that I wasn't modeling symmetrically which could give me problems later on if I continued. i therefore deleted one of the sides and did the "duplicate special" function to create symetrical sides. This made it much easier since i then only had to focus on one side and then the modelling would adjust on the other side.

Afterwards the arms were extruded and modelled properly.
I started making the head by extruding a face but figured that it would be difficult to model. What i therefore did was remove the head and open a new project to started started modelling.

After the modelling was done, the texturing could begin. Some of the texturing had already been done while modelling, in order to get an overview of the process and an idea of what it would look like. the entire model was textured in colour.
The different models were put together and finished up which became the ALMOST done model.
After this small changes were adjusted and thereby finished.
After this the Logo was put on the final Model and thereafter rendered.
